Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Donates Over 4,300 Gallons of Milk

Tulsa, Okla. – In an inspiring act of generosity, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated more than 4,300 gallons of milk to support local groups addressing food insecurity in the Tulsa area. This significant contribution arrived from Salt Lake City and was distributed among several key organizations engaged in feeding and aiding those in need.

The donation highlights a collaborative effort between the church and local nonprofits to combat hunger and provide essential resources to Tulsa’s vulnerable populations.

A Collaborative Effort to Support Tulsa’s Needy

Early Saturday morning, a semitruck transporting thousands of gallons of milk arrived at Catholic Charities in Tulsa, delivering half of the shipment. The remaining milk was allocated among other local organizations such as John 3:16 Ministry and Broken Arrow Neighbors, ensuring the donation impacts a broad spectrum of the community.

Scott Cole, a representative from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, emphasized the importance of partnership.

“As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we work to provide food, clothing, all resources to people across the world, so we find that our efforts are multiplied when we work with local organizations here,”

Cole said. He added,

“We had a surplus in milk and so we’re providing a semitruck full of gallons of milk, over 4,300 gallons. We provided to them as well as other partners that we all work with.”

Meeting Urgent Community Needs Through Food Distribution

The donation arrives at a critical time, with agencies like Catholic Charities serving up to 200 people daily. These organizations operate food markets where community members receive essentials like milk and other food items. The donated milk is expected to be distributed quickly due to high demand.

Cole noted,

“People come in, like the facility here, they can come in to a market, get the food that they need and get the milk. They see 200 people a day come in and so they can go through gallons of milk—as well as other food—very, very quickly.”

Strength in Partnership: How Local Organizations Work Together

This generous act also highlights the strong network of Tulsa-area organizations that work in synchrony despite not being formally affiliated. These groups share resources and coordinate to maximize their outreach and impact.

According to Cole,

“What’s interesting is all these organizations, while they’re not affiliated together, they work together so they’ll call one another and say ‘hey, we have a surplus of milk’ or ‘hey, we have a surplus of potatoes and other people need them,’ so it’s a constant give and take to make sure they can serve the full community and people that are in need.”
