Valley 10U AAA Allstars Fall in World Series Opener

The Valley 10U AAA Allstars, also known as Team Alabama, kicked off their run at the Diamond Youth Baseball World Series on Thursday morning. Unfortunately, they suffered a 10-3 defeat against Team Georgia from Schley County.

This opening game was part of the tournament’s “pool play,” so the Allstars’ journey is far from over. They are scheduled to face Team Tennessee tomorrow at 11 a.m.

Valley’s starting pitcher, Benton Earl, delivered a solid performance, pitching 2 ⅓ innings with three hits allowed. However, Team Georgia took an early 3-0 lead with a walk, a single, and an inside-the-park home run.

Despite holding Schley County scoreless for two innings, Valley struggled in the fourth inning as Schley added three more runs with a single, another inside-the-park home run, and an error. In the fifth inning, Georgia increased their lead to 7-0 with a single, a walk, and another run.

In the face of adversity, Valley found a glimmer of hope. With some rain falling in Bossier, the team rallied in the bottom of the fifth inning. Noah Lynd scored on a bases-loaded walk from Baylor Anglin, but Schley County quickly dampened the momentum by adding two more runs in the top of the sixth.

Team Alabama didn’t give up easily. Earl led off the bottom of the sixth with a double, followed by a single from Cole Carswell and an error by Schley’s shortstop, allowing Earl to score and Carswell to advance to second. A sacrifice fly by Mason Landrum moved Carswell to third, and a groundout from Ingram S brought Carswell home, concluding the game with a final score of 10-3.

The team’s games are being livestreamed on their Facebook page, 2024 Valley 10U All-Stars. A loss in tomorrow’s game would move the team to a separate bracket, making their path to the championship more challenging. However, a victory would secure them a bye to the next round.
